Today’s photo is from Shiloh in Williston, North Dakota. It’s a chilly place on the edge of Zones 3 and 4, but Shilo still has beautiful and productive gardens.
Here is the garden bed. Lack of space is not an issue here. Add a little irrigation and you have a wonderfully productive garden.
Plants are starting to grow. On the right side of the image you can see healthy potatoes mulched with straw. A row of coniferous trees provides a bit of wind protection from the spacious prairie landscape.
Corn, pumpkins, potatoes, everything looks clean and no weeds. Shiloh uses strings across the length of the bed to ensure each row is perfectly straight and orderly. If you plant the corn in this way 4 rows deep in him, the corn will be effectively pollinated and you will get a good harvest.
And look at this beautiful potato harvest! Picture perfect. There are also several four-legged helpers who oversee and watch the excavation.
